Materials Research and Data-Driven Evaluation Technologies for a Hydrogen Society
The Hydrogen Delivery and Storage Research Division focuses on metallic structural materials for hydrogen delivery and storage systems, as well as polymer-based barrier and sealing materials, hydrogen tribology, and hydrogen-related physical properties. Based on these studies, the division develops evaluation methods and criteria for assessing compatibility with high-pressure hydrogen environments and promotes collaborative applied research with industry partners for deployment in hydrogen infrastructure and utilization systems.
To maximize the efficiency of limited high-pressure hydrogen testing resources, the division also incorporates machine learning and materials informatics into systematic materials research. Leveraging expertise in materials science, the division collaborates closely with engineers and researchers involved in high-pressure hydrogen systems to establish reliable material compatibility assessment frameworks and actively disseminates research outcomes to industry.
