On May 14, 2026, Consul General C. Ramkumar of the Consulate-General of India in Fukuoka visited the Hydrogen Institute for Sustainability (HYDROGENIUS) and the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I²CNER). During the visit, he met with the directors and associate directors of both institutes and toured their research facilities.
At the beginning of the meeting, I²CNER Director Tatsumi Ishihara introduced the institute’s vision and ongoing research activities. This was followed by a presentation by HYDROGENIUS Associate Director Sasaki, who provided an overview of the institute and its mission following its launch in April this year.
The visit also included an exchange of views with HYDROGENIUS Director Tanimoto, Senior Advisor Dr. Sunita Satyapal, who joined online, and Associate Directors Nishimura and Matsunaga. During the discussion, Consul General Ramkumar shared perspectives on the current state and future potential of green energy in India, as well as opportunities for further academic and human exchange between India and Japan. The discussion was active and productive.
During the laboratory tour, the Consul General visited advanced analytical facilities and research laboratories where multinational students and researchers are conducting their work.
Through this visit, further development of collaboration and exchange between India and the two institutes is anticipated.
