
To mark the institute’s establishment, a kickoff meeting was held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the I2CNER Building 1 Hall on the Ito Campus, bringing together more than 80 researchers and staff members affiliated with the institute.
Following opening remarks by Kyushu University President Ishibashi, Institute Director Tanimoto outlined the institute’s vision and future directions. This was followed by presentations from the heads of the four research divisions—Hydrogen Production; Hydrogen Delivery and Storage; Hydrogen Utilization; and International and Interdisciplinary Research—who introduced their respective research themes and team members. A video message from Dr. Sunita Satyapal, a senior advisor to the institute, was also presented, creating a shared sense of anticipation for the institute’s launch.
